A term used to describe all ingredients in a recipe that have been measured out and prepped (diced, chopped, zested, etc) prior to cooking. Pronounced "meez-on-plahs".

In French the term litterally translates to "Putting in place" or "Everything in its place". This is a great step to take before cooking, so you know that you have everything ready to go and the actual cooking process transpires flawlessly.

This is one of the best steps to preventing a stressful cooking experience.

Mise En Place is a cooking term mentioned in both my Sausage-stuffed mushrooms recipe & my Chicken Picatta over angel hair recipe.
